Degree Show - Bog Standard

The focus of this work is based around public women’s toilets, particularly those in nightclubs and bars. Having spent most of my teenage years and early twenties working in bars and nightlife establishments, and as a previously self-proclaimed club rat, I have spent an ample amount of time using said toilets. I see this area as a safe space for women, both cis and trans, and non binary people to socialise and congregate, without judgement or intervention from men. The women’s toilet provides a physical barrier from a possible bad tinder date, unhappy ex-boyfriend, or pushy creep from the smoking area. This installation offers everyone a brief insight into the goings on inside the girls toilet.
